UAE-based sports and sports-tech consortium Al Fursan, led by Sheikh Ahmad bin Faisal Al Qasimi, on Tuesday announced the acquisition of Indian Super League club Kerala Blasters FC from the Magnum Group — sending shockwaves of excitement through the football-mad state of Kerala.

A dream new era begins

The transfer of ownership will take place in phases across the season, bringing a close to Magnum Sports' decade-long tenure with the club — a decade that built solid foundations and turned the Blasters into a household name across the subcontinent.

And the new owners? They couldn't be more buzzing about what's ahead. The acquisition is being driven by the experienced and highly energetic director Antony Dunston, while the ownership team is led by the respected and globally renowned Ambassador Dr Dunstone Pereira — a prominent corporate leader and diplomat whose vision and international stature bring instant credibility and ambition to the project.

"We are deeply excited about this new chapter," Al Fursan said. "For us at Al Fursan, this is not simply about taking over a football club. It is about becoming part of a family, a culture and a movement that has made Kerala Blasters one of the most loved clubs in Indian football."

If that doesn't get the pulses racing, nothing will.

The perfect operational team

Here's where it gets even better. Kerala-based sports management firm Ofioh Sporty has been appointed as the operational partner, with CEO Thameem Anwar and co-founder Sharath Kuniyil overseeing the day-to-day running of the club.

"The club is in safe hands," Anwar declared — and you can feel the confidence oozing from every word.

The outgoing shareholders, meanwhile, signed off with a heartfelt message that speaks volumes about the love and care poured into the Blasters over the past ten years.

"The decision to sell the club was not an easy one. It comes after considerable thought and with a deep understanding of what Kerala Blasters means to the people who have made it what it is," they said in a statement.

"We leave knowing that we have built a stronger club, with solid foundations that will allow Kerala Blasters to embrace the changes ahead in Indian football and continue to grow. We are certain that the next chapter can be written with the same ambition with which this journey began."

On the pitch — the excitement builds

And if the boardroom drama has you fired up, wait until you hear what's happening on the pitch.

Ashley Westwood — yes, that Ashley Westwood — will remain as head coach for the upcoming season, bringing his wealth of experience and tactical nous to a squad that is hungry for glory.

The team's training camp gets underway in Chennai on Wednesday, with the full squad announcement expected this week. The anticipation is absolutely electric.

Mark your calendars

The Blasters open their ISL campaign against Inter Kashi on October 11 — and then comes the moment every fan in Kochi has been waiting for.

October 25. Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium. Mumbai City FC. The Yellow Army in full voice.

If you've never experienced a Blasters home game at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, you're missing one of the great spectacles of world football — a sea of yellow, drums pounding, flags waving, the noise absolutely deafening. It's spine-tingling stuff.

And now, with fresh investment, fresh ambition and a fresh sense of purpose, the Blasters are ready to roar into a sensational new era.

Buckle up, Kerala. This is going to be one heck of a ride.
